An Ecosystem Approach For Appraising Environmental Degradation And Its Impact In Dehradun Valley

Abstract

The various human activities have been largely responsible for the environmental degradation. The global environment has deteriorated significantly in recent decades. Environmental degradation is considered to be one of the major threats to human welfare today. Unplanned and non-systematic construction activities, including roads and buildings, have been a major cause of environmental degradation in hilly terrain. Environment degradation is decay in environmental quality and loss of biodiversity with the passage of time. It can also be called a disturbance in the environmental components i.e. biotic and abiotic factors of an area. Factors for this degradation are many. They may be natural or man induced.
