GROWTH AND PROSPECTS OF HORTICULTURE IN DEHRADUN DISTRICT IN THE CONTEXT OF SHIFTING ENVIRONMENTAL PATTERNS

   Abstract:

The present investigation mainly deals with the prospects of horticulture development in Dehradun district and studies the effect of environment change on horticulture. Climate change threatens to reduce the reliability of water supply for horticultural production. It also disrupts the chilling cycle for specific fruits. Climate change affects horticulture and floriculture indirectly by affecting their respective markets.

The investigation presents a critical view of current Horticultural trends, factors that affect it negatively and hints at the possible future outlook for Horticulture trends in Dehradun district. It also proposes some plausible solutions to the challenges faced by Horticulture.
