THE GRADE 8 GEOGRAPHY EXHIBITION

THE GRADE 8 GEOGRAPHY EXHIBITION

The grade 8 exhibition was indeed, a really big hit! On the 17th of March, 2014 grade 8 students reflected their knowledge and creativity through various subjects; English, Science, Maths, History, Geography and more. Out of all subjects, geography was one core subject that was very well exhibited!  Under the guidance of Dr. Payal Mishra .The grade 8 students used their imagination and creativity and brought out outstanding models which truly delighted everyone, who saw the displays.
Furthermore, the students chose various topics which were related to  How interaction leads to change such as, weather and climate and its significance in our daily lives. This includes changes in North America, natural vegetation, where we come to know that mangroves stand as barriers and protect people from floods. Students also demonstrated the coastal landforms, waves, which can be used as a source of energy, natural disasters and the use of GPS(s).
Climate changes will affect everyone, but some populations will be at greater risk. Countries whose coastal regions have a large population, such as Egypt and China, may have to move whole populations inland to avoid flooding. The effect on people will depend on how well we can adapt to the changes and how much we can do to reduce climate change in the world. The students also prepared a report about the recent floods that hit Jakarta, Indonesia and also caused a lot of destruction. This report preaches us how natural disasters affect the surroundings around us. GPS is used to locate certain things and as weve heard about the Malaysian Airlines, flight no. MH 370 which is currently missing, GPS can help us locate it but unfortunately it has its own disadvantages also.
We also see that, a wide range of knowledge had been used and likes enhancing these young minds! The whole section of geography was very well illustrated to the Principal, Vice Principal, teachers, parents and students. Everyone were mesmerised by the work of Grade 8. All the students were able to bring out the significance of their respected topic through their posters, displays boards and models. They also explained about the global context; globalisation and sustainability, Human Ingenuity and Environment which is related to concepts like system processes, landforms formed, etc. The Principal went on to see every creativity and hard work by the students and he praised each and every group and this, certainly boosted up the level of confidence even more in them!

Overall the topics were very well illustrated and defined. The exhibition went amazing and the students got a big opportunity to express themselves; their talents and their creative minds. Indeed the 8th graders captured everyones eyes and made the exhibition superbly amazing!
